After eight years of war, Idlib, which is on the border with Turkey, is the militants’ last major stronghold. Russian President Vladimir Putin says Moscow supports the Syrian army operation against “terrorists” in Idlib. At the same time, turkey and the US are seeking to create a so-called safe zone in northern Syria. So what’s Ankara and Washington’s plan in Syria? Why do they want to build a safe-zone there?
